Shauna, CPT, RKC
Shauna is Certified Personal Trainer by the American College of Sports Medicine. She is a Certified Fitness Professional by Pima Community College, and is Certified by RKC in Kettlebells, having earned the most well-respected Certification in the sport. Even 9 months pregnant, Shauna successfully passed the challenging Kettlebell Snatch Test! She has experience in program design, senior training, post-rehabilitation, cardiac rehabilitation, weight loss, and post-natal training. Shauna is very creative with her workouts, and strives to provide her clients with a balanced program that incorporates posture, balance, flexibility, strength, and aerobic training in a way that is customized to help them meet their goals.

Mike holds a BA in Health Sciences from the University of Arizona, and has been involved in health and fitness since he got his first weight set at the age of 12. He has competed in football on the college level for U of A, track and field, basketball, soccer, racquetball, baseball and swimming. Over the years Michael has trained for all of these sports and is able to pass on to his clients his own experiences on how to get a healthy and strong body. Mike is a well respected trainer, and is the lead Boot Camp Instructor in East Tucson and holds the prestigious Crossfit Training Certification and RKC Kettlebell designations as well as the IKFF Certified Kettlebell Teacher designation. He is experienced in Kettlebells as the Head Instructor of Kombat Kettlebells and is a top RKC Trainer in this part of the U.S.

Kayla has a BA (with Majors in English and French) from the University of Arizona where she also studied Anatomy, Physiology and Nutrition. She trained as a competitive dancer for 13 years, competing and participating in conventions from Los Angelos Dance Force to the New York Dance Alliance, as well as performing with the s Ballet. She also competed in track and field. Kayla is a Certified Personal Trainer, in both personal fitness training and Pilates (Mat and Reformer,) as well as by IKFF as a Certified Kettlebell Teacher (CKT) She is the Lead Boot Camp Instructor at our Vail / Rita Ranch SWAT Boot Camp location and is a valued resource on nutrition, weight loss and motivation. Kayla says, "For the thousands of things we do not have the power to control in our lives, our health is not one of them.  Each of us has the awsome opportunity and privilege to attain and maintain our health, and not just for ourselves; but also for the the ones whose lives we touch around us."

Will is a certified personal trainer by the National Strength and Conditioning Association and a graduate of the Apollo College fitness technician program. In addition to being an outstanding personal trainer, he has advanced training as a Crossfit Certified Instructor and kettlebell coach. William has experience training all types of individuals from athletes to elderly and special needs populations. William is a very energetic and outgoing individual who will push and motivate you through every step of the way whether your goals are weight loss, strength gains or just correcting posture and creating a healthy lifestyle. Will recently completed and passed the prestigious RKC Kettlebell Certification. He has an outstanding attitude and his enthusiasm makes him a true standout among personal trainers!

James, CPT, is a Crossfit Level 1 Instructor and avid Crossfitter and MMA Instuctor. He is Certified in virtually all things Crossfit, including Crossfit Endurance and Nutrition, as well as Olympic Lifting. (Don't let that intimidate you!) He is a former police officer and is experienced in group training, personal fitness training and martial arts instruction for adults and children. His passion and excitement for training average people as if they are athletes (and he believes they are!) makes his clients feel like they can do almost anything! James is also the proud father of a beautiful daughter.

Danny, B.S., C.S.C.S., RKC, IKFF, training Manager
Danny holds a Bachelors Degree in Nutritional Sciences from the University of Arizona. After graduating, he worked in the Metabolic Monitoring Lab at the University of Arizona and conducted clinical research on human metabolism. He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist from the National Strength and Conditioning Association and holds a Personal Training Certification from the American Counsel on Exercise.  Most recently, he was Department Head of the Fitness Training Program at Apollo College were he was responsible for the training of Personal Trainers. He came to SWAT in 2009 - and hasn't looked back!

He has helped develop and conceptualize the personal training and kettlebells training programs for various organizations, including SWAT @ Gold's Gyms in Tucson. Danny has extensive experience working with a wide variety of individuals from post-rehabilitation strengthening to working with athletes, and his clients believe there is little - if anything - he can't do, or help them to do for themselves! Danny is RKC Russian Kettlebell Challenge Certified in Kettlebell Instruction. Too many great qualfications to list - His Philosophy is: Train Safely, Functionally, Intensely, and Have Fun!

Robert is Certified through NSCA as a CPT, and is a Top Graduate of the Apollo College Personal Training program. Vince is  a Certified Personal Trainer (NASM) and Kettlebell Instructor (IKFF.) Vince's own inspirational story can best be told only in his own words. Here's what he has to say: "I had always been an athlete. When I stopped playing sports, however, I became extremely overweight, topping out at a whopping 300 pounds. One day I had enough. Wigh good nutrition and healthy living (and hard workouts,) I LOST 100 POUNDS. I truly believe in fitness. I believe that if you really believe that you can do something; there is nothing in the world that can stop you."

Vince loves to train a wide variety of people, including special populations like morbid obesity and the elderly, as well as bodybuilders, athletes and fighters. Regardless of the client, he is able to keep the workouts fun, and is able to energize everyone he works with. He is highly motivating - no matter what your goals may be.

David De La Pena, is a Certified CrossFit Level 2 Instructor, (One of only a few in the State!) and IKFF Kettle Bell Certified Trainer. KORY, CPT, ISSA
Kory is an ISSA Certified Personal Trainer, and a National Physique Committee Amateur Bodybuilder. He has been involved with health, fitness, and nutrition for over 13 years. At the age of 19 he joined the U.S. Air Force and served 5 years of active duty and then 7 more years as a reservist. While in the Air Force, he began training others, and soon realized that personal training was what he was called to do. Kory has trained people of all ages, and all skill levels.

No matter what kind of shape you are in, Kory can help push you to the next level and help you achieve your goals. He is a Specialist in Performance Nutrition, and specilizes in Weight Loss and Body Toning, core conditioning, nutrition counseling, functional fitness, sports specific conditioning, bodybuilding and Figure Prep, and kettlebells. We are pleased to have Kory as an integral part of the SWAT Fitness @ Gold's Gym East Tucson!

Tyler is an ISSA Certified Personal Trainer and a Certified Kettlebell Teacher through IKFF.  He holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Economics and Political Science and was a three year starting catcher for his college baseball team.  After college graduation Tyler joined the United States Army as an intelligence analyst / collector.  He is also a graduate of the United States Army Ranger School, one of the most physically and mentally grueling schools the military has to offer.  He is also an experienced and avid musician who has played bass guitar for 17 years.   

Tyler has experience training athletes at many different levels, military personnel, special populations, special needs clients, injury rehabilitation and clients with disabilities.  He is a high energy trainer that enjoys pushing people to exceed their perceived limits, while focusing on maintaining flexibility, stability, balance and exercise form.  He is motivated by helping people succeed, meet and exceed their goals and improve their overall fitness level.  Tyler says, “I want people to believe in themselves, to believe they can succeed and meet their goals.  This is not about me, this is about you and I am here to help you meet your goals.”

Shaun graduated from Western State College of Colorado where he played football and earned a Degree in Exercise and Sport Science and a second degree in Psychology. In addition, he was voted 2009 Outstanding Exercise and Sport Science graduate for the major. Currently, he is a certified through the National Strength and Conditioning Association.  Since he can remember, Shaun has been involved in sports and competition, but his true passion has always led him back the weight room. Shaun has experience coaching at all fitness levels, from the novice to the competitive Olympic weightlifter. Naturally, his academic background and personal experience in the weight room (as a coach and athlete) has provided him with a strong foundation to train others with safety, providing sound technical instruction, and motivation.  Shaun truly loves to inspire his clients meet and exceed their own expectations.

Melanie is an ACE certified personal Trainer. She specializes in functional strength training for all fitness levels, and dynamic boxing & kickboxing workouts.

Melanie's own journey from being overweight and in chronic pain to being healthy and able-bodied has made her a passionate and compassionate ally for those who seek to better their own lives through fitness. She has helped hundreds of people in Tucson, ages 13 to 91, and with abilities ranging from those of aspiring athletes, to novices with pre-existing conditions, including double-knee replacements and other challenges. Melanie's enthusiasm and energy are contagious, and will be sure to inspire and motivate you, regardless of how or where you start.

dr frank comstock m.d.Frank Comstock, M.D., obtained his medical training from Michigan State University, where he also completed residency training in emergency medicine. Dr. Comstock continues to practice emergency medicine today and is board certified in that specialty. He is President of Northwest Tucson Emergency Physicians and has been Medical Director for twenty years.

His transition to include anti-aging medicine comes from seeing numerous patients show accelerated effects of aging in the emergency room, often preventable through lifestyle changes This prompted further training at the prestigious Cenegenics Medical Institute and board certification in the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine, where Dr. Comstock built upon his prior research experience to further his knowledge of health optimization.

Dr. Comstock consults with SWAT clients to offer personalized programs for wellness and longevity through healthy diet, appropriate exercise programs, quality supplement products, and bio-identical hormone replacement. Dr. Comstock has authored an important addition to the anti-aging medical publication, 101 Great Ways to Improve Your Health, and is a leader the in the area of proactive aging. His pioneering approach to optimal health management through the development of advanced, personal programs for each of his patients, makes Dr. Comstock an integral part of the SWAT Fitness Medical Advisory team.
