Week 1 of Curvy Women program is in the books!

Posted by Bryan on June 13th, 2009

SWAT Northwest and SWAT East have just completed the first week of our new and exciting workout program for Tucson’s “Curvy Women.”

Twenty ladies at each location split into two groups with 10 working out in the morning, and 10 in the evening.  Monday, Wednesday, and Friday the ladies pressed through tough workouts using KETTLEBELLS and complimented their efforts with cardiovascular training on Tuesday and Thursday.

After receiving vital nutrition information two weeks ago, many of the ladies are already seeing a difference in their bodies.  Not only are these women FEELING better, RESTING better, and SUSTAINING HIGHER ENERGY LEVELS throuhgout the day, a majority have reported significant weight loss just in the two week period.  I could not be more impressed with a group of gals, their committment and drive to better themselves has made my job a lot easier :)

Lets keep this ball rolling ladies and week 2 is just around the corner, LET’S GO!

Boot Camp Updates

Posted by crossfittucson on May 26th, 2008

As our May boot camp ends and another begins (June 2) thought we should update you all with what’s going on with our popular Boot Camp fitness program.

Our boot camp program is gathering interest from other such programs across the nation. We have trainers coming all the way from Alaska to stay with us for a week of mentoring and coaching, to improve their fitness programs in the Alaska city where they live. We are looking forward to working with them and watching their fitness programs grow.

Our Oro Valley Boot Camp is getting ready to graduate its first class. Congratulations to Oro Valley Arizona for representing and inspiring us all! We had Dads and sons, mothers and daughters, friends and neighbors all participating together.

The Northwest Tucson boot camp location has moved. We offer our sincere thanks to Desert Cardiology for providing us with a great place to meet, and for their support.

Our Kettlebell expert and boot camp instructor at Rita Ranch has been doing a GREAT job in Vail. Thank you to all of the Vail and Rita Ranch boot camp participants who have helped us make the Rita Ranch location a success. We are appreciative to all of you - and your stories are truly inspiring. Sue reports that she has lost 8 pounds and a whole T-shirt size.

Our next Boot Camp starts June 2, 2008, with a pre-camp orientation and nutrition seminar on May 31. Please register early for the SWAT Boot Camp. We want to make sure you have a great experience, and start out the right way.

Boot Camp Success Stories

Posted by crossfittucson on May 22nd, 2007

Most of the Post-Camp results are in, and the news is GREAT!!

I have been really impressed by how hard everyone worked, and how focused they were on meeting their goals. The reviews have been very positive, and a lot of our participants are going to sign up for the next Boot Camp Session. that makes us very proud.

We have all the dates and locations finalized for the next Boot Camp. we start May 29 (Tuesday, because of the Holiday) and then the final week we will meet SIX days instead of 5.

Three Tucson locations:
Northwest Tucson
East Tucson
Sahuarita, AZ

We are in the process now of signing up new participants, and getting their PRE-camp assessments completed.

This is going to be a great Boot Camp Fitness Class, and I encourage you ALL to think about joining in on the fun!

Boot Camp Graduation!

Posted by crossfittucson on May 11th, 2007

Another great week for all of us at SWAT. Boot Camp is finishing up this week (before the May 28 Boot Camp Session begins) and it is so exciting to see the progress and results that clients are getting! It’s amazing that in just a few weeks of commitment, hard work, and a willingness to try, you can change so much!

Ron treated his NW Boot Camp Grads to Starbucks after their post assessments this morning, and has expressed many times how proud he is of the participants in this last NW Tucson Boot Camp Fitness class. I know that Trey, with the Eastside Boot Campers feels the same way! This was truly a remarkable group of people.

Karyn P made great strides - but what she is most proud of is the fact that the first time she did a timed mile, it took her nearly 17 minutes. She said she had even been nervous about the Boot Camp because she didn’t feel like she would ever be able to run. Her post-assesment time: 13 minutes!! That is a remarkable accomplishment - not to mention the 3 lbs of body fat that she lost, plus her dramatic increases in strength, and even more importantly the sense of accomplishment and pride she has because she finished.

All the post-assessment results will be in this week, and I’m sure all results will be similar: our boot camp participants will have lost some pounds, gained some strength, lost some inches, and MOST IMPORTANTLY will feel better than they have in a long time. They will have finished something that few people ever have the courage to start. And they can all be very proud of themselves.

If I could emphasize one thing about the fitness boot camps to every person reading this, it is simple: You can do it! Don’t let your size, your age, or your self confidence stop you any more! You go at your own pace. You rest when you’re tired. You drink water when you’re thirsty. If you can’t run, you walk. You don’t have to keep up with anyone. No one will judge you. We just want you to try it.

Because we know that you can do it, and that it is worth the effort. Just ask the 50-plus participants who just graduated.
